Master Designer John Hoeflich Develops
Dynamic 3DX Pro Iron for Nickent Golf
Introducing the world’s most playable player’s
iron, the 3DX Pro. The 3DX Pro is designed by Nickent Golf’s
Senior Vice President, John Hoeflich, the legendary club designer
responsible for designing many of the game’s best-selling
irons. Millions of golfers, including many of the world’s
best players, have benefited from his iron design philosophy
of mixing art with technology and looks with performance.
With the 3DX Pro, Hoeflich designed an iron that combines
the classic good looks of a blade iron with the forgiving
features of a perimeter-weighted iron.
The chrome-plated 3DX Pro is made with a very special alloy,
a new stainless steel that provides a soft and responsive
feel. Just like the 3DX Iron introduced last month, the 3DX
Pro features a tungsten-polymer insert (XW Insert), which
takes the vibration out from impact, reduces shock and gives
this cavity back iron a "muscle back forged" feel.
"The 3DX Pro represents the shapes and transitions that
I personally love to design and what PGA Tour players look
for in irons," said Hoeflich. "What's so special
about this iron are the different materials used. A special
steel alloy is used in combination with the tungsten-polymer
insert, which truly makes this iron feel and sound like a
forged muscle back. The best part is that it has this amazing
feel that better players enjoy, but it is cast with a nice
sized cavity back. This gives the club the best of feel, distance
and playability."
The 3DX Pro's XW Insert is concentrated directly behind the
face for greater workability of the golf ball. By using polymer
around the outside of the insert, Nickent has the ability
to control the amount of tungsten in the insert without being
bulky and taking away from its eye-catching clubhead design.
Using the XW Insert plug vs. a metal plug gives Nickent the
flexibility to move significant amounts of weight without
losing feel.
Another special feature of this club is its customization
features. The 3DX Pro has the ability to have swing weight
match up perfectly with virtually any shaft length. Because
Nickent can easily control the weight of the XW Insert, basically
any length club can be made with normal swing weights.
The 3DX Pro has the thin top line and straight leading edge
that tour players look for in their irons. PGA Tour professionals
have just received the first batch of the irons and the response
has been phenomenal, according to Josh Trivett, Director of
Tour Operations for Nickent.
"It has been a lot of fun to see the reaction from the
guys with the 3DX Pro," said Trivett. "First off,
they know they are getting an iron from the designer whose
sticks have won every major event on the planet. That's always
a good introduction. Second, they love the way they look and
feel like a forged iron, all with the playability factor of
a cavity back. It's something all of us have been waiting
for."
The 3DX Pro Iron features the Nippon 1180 shaft, designed
specifically for Nickent by Nippon Golf Shafts. The difference
between Nippon and other mid-weight steel shafts is that Nippon
Shafts are 100 percent made in a state-of-the-art Japanese
factory using unique proprietary materials and a specialized
heat-treatment process. More than 100 touring professionals
worldwide use Nippon Shaft products in their clubs, resulting
in more than 50 victories in the last three years.
“Nippon Shaft is excited and honored to have been chosen
by Nickent Golf to provide our shafts as stock items in the
3DX Pro Series irons,” said Hiroyuki Fukuda, head of
sales and marketing for Nippon Shaft USA. “As a club
designer and manufacturer, Nickent Golf adheres to the highest
standard of excellence and Nippon Shaft is pleased to provide
Nickent with a steel shaft consistent with that same high
standard."
The N.S. Pro 1180GH iron weighs in at 118 grams and is constant
weighted in the 3-iron through the gap wedge.
